A Guide to Fishing and Bug Catching in ACNH
Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) has been a huge hit since its release in March 2020, and it’s no surprise why. With its light-hearted and colorful visuals, easy-to-learn mechanics, and endless opportunities to customize and express yourself, it’s no wonder everyone is obsessed with the game. If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy your island life, fishing and bug-catching could be just the thing!
Fishing Basics
Fishing is one of the main activities in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and it’s a great way to pass the time or make some Bells (in-game currency). To begin, you’ll need a fishing rod, which you can purchase from the Nook Stop for 400 Bells. You can also get a fishing rod as a bonus when you sign up for Nook Miles+.
Once you have a fishing rod, you can find fish in multiple places around your island. Look for shadows in the water, and cast your line! Different types of fish can be found in different seasons and times of day, so be sure to keep an eye out for new species. When you catch a fish, you can donate it to Blathers at the museum or sell it to Timmy and Tommy at the Nook’s Cranny shop.
Bug-Catching Basics
Bug-catching is another activity in ACNH that’s great for earning Bells. To begin, you’ll need a net, which you can purchase from the Nook Stop for 500 Bells. To catch a bug, just equip your net and swing it at any bug you see! Different types of bugs can be found in different seasons and times of day, so keep an eye out for new critters.
When you catch a bug, you can donate it to Blathers at the museum or sell it to Flick at his pop-up shop. Flick will also buy rare bugs from you for a higher price, so keep an eye out for those!
